Summerfest 2013 is still going ahead on the 15th June (despite press reports it might be in danger) and we are looking forward to being there.

We will be attempting to give away as many free teas, coffees and biscuits as possible over the course of the day, and also to find as much comfy seating as possible for the folks of Cambuslang.  Please come and say hello and we promise to say hello back.

We're having a quieter year as Cambuslang Churches - this is Sabbatical to allow us to think about the best way forward in the following years.

There will still be some things to look out for including Summerfest and hopefully a 24/7 prayer event before the end of the summer.

We're all having a few month's rest after the exertions of Summerfest, the holiday club, and the odd other thing in which Cambuslang Churchers become enmeshed.

Things before the end of the year include the Bibleworld Bus and the annual carol service on the 18th December.

As they breathlessly assure us on the news channels, we'll bring you any updates on those stories as soon as we have them.

Summerfest 2011

A big thanks to all those involved in the Church's stall at Cambuslang's annual street jamboree - Summerfest.  This year we handed out free refreshments, biscuits (thanks to McVities for their generosity in supplying them free) and chat to a tropical theme.  Pictured above are Leslie Milton and Linda Wunsch, both from Cambuslang Parish Church; the parrot belongs to all the congregations.

Also present was well loved entertainer Alastair MacDonald who entertained crowds on the main stage as well as joining us at our stall.

Paul MortonForthcoming events in the maelstrom of activity that are the Cambuslang Churches include:

  • The Churches of Scotland hosting a service of remembering on the 21st November at 2.30pm in St. Andrew's Building of Cambuslang Parish Church.  This is a special service for anyone in the community who has recently lost a loved one.
  • Our 24/7 Prayer Time in St. Bride's Church over the 27th-28th November.
  • The Flemington Hallside Christmas Fayre on the 27th November
  • Our own Estelle from the Reachout Trust conducting a choir from Cairns Primary at the Annual Lights Switch on on the 28th November.
  • Carol singing at Morrison's (10-11:30am) in the Park at 4pm on 11th December.
  • The Community Carol Service at St. Bride's Church at 2pm on the 19th December.

In contrast to such scarcely defensible busy-ness, here is Father Paul Morton recently enjoying a tranquil moment at St. Bride's on the occasion of his 25th Anniversary in the Priesthood.
